                                      INSTRUCTIONS TO THE AUTHORS

               "The Turkish Journal of Invasive Cardiology" publishes original articles, reviews, case reports and news about invasive cardiology.

The publishing languages are Turkish and English. The responsibility of articles belongs to the authors.

            The articles should be written by computer, and sent in an envelop containing disk and three copies. The articles should be original, and should not be under review in an other journal. Also, all authors should read and confirm the article. The editor may send the article to the author given name and address in the front page, and may seek information about the arrangement of the article, interptretation of findings, analysis and statistics.

            Preparation of the aritcles

            The articles should be prepared by laser printer or photocopy in three copies, and sent via 3.5 HD disk. The article should be written by MS program with 12 font size onto 21x29 cm A4 paper with 3 cm margins from all edges.

            The arrangement should be done with the given order: 1) Front page, 2) The abstract and the key words, 3) The article, 4) The fi-gures and explanations, 5) The tables. Page number is located in the upper right corner of the page with the first number given to the front page.

            Front page

            Front page includes the title of the article and the names of the authors. The names, as well as the titles of the authors should be written on the front page. The institution(s) should be written under the names of the authors.

            After the title of the article and names, correspondence address should be written clearly. Apart from the address, phone number, fax number and electronic mail address should be written if available.

            Abstract

            The abstract should include introduction, materials and methods, findings and conclusions respectively, and should be written in Turkish  and in English containing not more than 250 words. The sentences should be clear and short. Abbreviations should be acceptable by everyone. All data in the abstract should also be included in the article or in the tables. It is not obligatory to write abstract for reviews.

            Article

            Abbreviations should be acceptable by everyone. Materials and methods, findings, discussion and conclusion parts should be written as main headings, and the others as subheadings.

            Every reference in the article, figure and table should be grouped by arabic numbers.

            Statistics

            Statistical methods and hypothesis used in the article should be clearly explained.

            References

            References should be given at upper indent in numerical order. The refence list is written separately in the order of numbers given in the article.

            Any knowlegde that has not been published before cannot be indicated as reference, but may be written in paranthesis in the article. Any abstract that had been published two or more years before cannot be indicated as reference. The abstracts should be written as "abstract" in paranthesis. If a letter to editor is given as refe-rence, then again it shoud be written as "letter" in paranthesis.

            Journals

            If there are six or less authors, all should be written; if more then six authors are available, then the names of the first three should be written and others should be indicated as "et al". The title of the article should be written just after the authors with the first word with upper case, and the others with the lower case letters. Then, the name of the journal, publishing year, issue and the  page number should be written. As an example:

            Chapters in the books

            The authors, the title of the chapter (first word starts with the upper case, the others start with lower case letter), the name of the publisher, publishing year and the number of the first page should be written. As an example:

13.Baim DS. Grossman's Cardiac Catheterization, Angiography, and Intervention. In Baim DS and Grossman W, 6th ed, Coronary Angioplasty. Philadelphia-Tokyo: Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, Chapter in 2000:547-601.

            Book

            The authors, the title of the book (all words start with upper case letters), the name of the publisher, publishing year and the number of the first page should be written. As an example:

33.Topol EJ. Text Book of Interventional Cardiology.  Philadelphia, Saunders, 2003.

            Figures

            Figure numbers should be written in an other page in the numerical order of the article. All abbreviations should be explained under related figure. The meaning of the symbols (arrows, circles, etc.) should be also explained. A figure that has been published before can only be used with the permission of the authors and the publisher.

            Figures should be prepared as four copies by laser printer or photocopy, and sent on a disk.

            Figures, especially graphs, should be prepared as compact as possibe. The symbols and the articles should be 8 font,  one-co-lumn graph width should not be more than 8.5 cm, two-column graph width should not be more than 17.5 cm, since they can be edited later on.

            All figures and graphs should be prepared by MS office software, and printed with a good quality printer. Only black and white colours (not grey) should be used in the graphs or figures. In case of pictures, the area under interest should be signed clearly.

Figure titles should be given in the explanation under the figure, not in the figure.

            Tables

            The tables are grouped by arabic numbers with two spaces left, and written in an other page in the numerical order given in the article. The title of the table is placed in the middle of the under-lying table. Abbreviations and explanations are given under the table. A table that has been published before can only be used with the permission of the authors and the publisher.

            Publishing committee can make any corrections if necessary in the article without changing the main theme of the article. A separate copy is not sent to the authors.
